Replacement Design for Embedded Systems - Strategies for Alternative Component Solutions and Cost Reduction Achieved through Microcontroller Integration -

Due to the discontinuation of the timer IC and level display IC, it has become urgent for customers to switch to alternative products before running out of stock. However, suitable components could not be found from domestic and international manufacturers, making it difficult to maintain the functionality of existing products. In response, our company proposed a new approach to integrate the more than ten existing circuit board versions, which varied according to battery voltage and capacity, into a single version controlled by a microcontroller. This made it easier to switch settings for each model using a rotary switch on the circuit board, eliminating the need for volume adjustments during inspection, while also successfully reducing costs in circuit board management and inspection processes. As a result, we were able to respond flexibly to the issue of alternative parts, ensuring stable product supply and overall cost reduction.
